The Department of Cooperatives is one of the major agencies in implementing government initiatives for socio-economic development of the people and reduction of poverty. Department of Cooperatives is a department under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Named as the Chief Registrar and Director General of the Department of Cooperatives. Upazila, District, Division and Headquarters The offices of this department are spread over 4 levels. There is also a National Training Academy and 10 Regional Cooperative Training Institutes. The main activities of the Department of Cooperatives are to assist the cooperative movement and ensure socio-economic development of the people through various statutory services including registration of cooperative societies, legal advice and development and expansion activities.
